'Twilight' star Rob Pattinson: The new Beatles?



One of the hottest events at San Diego's Comic-Con this week was the upcoming film "Twilight" starring Kristen Stewart ("Into the Wild," "Panic Room") and Robert Pattinson as star-crossed young lovers, one of whom just happens to one of the bloodsucking undead, based on the romantic horror novel by Stephenie Meyer.

You may recall Rob Pattinson as Cedric Diggory in the fourth "Harry Potter" film. He also played Rawdy Crawley in "Vanity Fair" with Reese Witherspoon. He's a stage-trained, London-born actor (born May 13, 1986).

Los Angeles Times online reporter Denise Martin chatted backstage with the hunky Pattinson, whom some are comparing to the vampire world's John Lennon/Paul McCartney, before he went onstage to talk to the fans who had swarmed like Beatle fans to the event.

Asked if he had a favorite superhero: Pattinson gave a slightly naughty reply, "Spider-Man. I like the outfit; I like a little bit of spandex."
